Active
Active learners learn by doing something with information. They prefer to process information by talking about it and trying it out Reflective
Reflective learners learn by thinking about information. They prefer to think things through and understand things before acting.
Sensing
Sensing learners prefer to take in information that is concrete and practical. They are orientated towards details, facts and figures where proven procedures are preferred. They are realistic and prefer practical applications. Intuitive
Intuitive learners prefer to take in information which is where the learner prefers conceptual, inactive or theoretical information, where the meanings of aspects in subjects that the learner takes are looked for.
Visual
Visual learners prefer to learn with things that they can see, like graphs, pictures or diagrams, so when there is information they would prefer to have a visual representative of the information that they need to learn. Verbal
Verbal learners prefer to have information read or heard, so explanations with words are often looked for to help them learn the information that they need to learn.
Sequential
Sequential learners prefer to have information presented to them in an orderly manner and chronologically. The details will be put into a sensible order to be able to understand the bigger picture. Global
Global learners prefer to have a holistic and systematic approach, where the bigger picture is seen first, then any necessary details is added to the necessary areas that the information applies to.
After taking a quiz, I have learnt that I am a visual learner and when you are aware of your learning style, it generally means that learning is easier for you as you know how you learn best and can apply the information in that way. It means you can learn information that you need to learn in the most effective way possible and adapt information to how you need it to learn. Being a visual learner, I will learn best from any visual aids, so the information I need to learn should be in images or other visual formats. Visual aids would help me learn best since I understand images easier than I do words in many different areas and that is why I am classed as a visual learner. I then scored second highest as a kinaesthetic learner and I scored lowest as a auditory learner. I know that if I learn in a kinaesthetic with other people, then it would help me more as I can watch how they are applying the learning actively whilst being able to actively apply the learning myself. As I am least effective in learning auditory styles, I know that listening to people will be the hardest for me to comprehend, so I know that I should avoid auditory learning styles whenever possible.Kinesthetic learners prefer to learn information by moving where interactive learning, learning through practical challenges and hands-on experience and taking in information as they move from one place to another is preferred, meaning Kinesthetic learners are have difficulties sitting in a place for long. Kinesthetic learning allows learners to have faster to practice and evidence: where they learn as they practice and are able practice what they learn. But, if there isn’t any space or time or anybody else to actively learn with, it is difficult for the kinaesthetic learner to learn information. The Kinesthetic StyleReading or writing learners prefer to take notes or reading the necessary information to be learnt. When writing, they will make notes on any important that they think that they need. The reading and writing learners will be more self dependant with note taking and they are able to learn much by themselves. But, these learners have difficulties if an instruction is visual or auditory and writing material isn’t easy to access. The Read/Write StyleFor auditory learners, they prefer to learn from hearing the necessary information. This can mean that information is learnt from listening to discussions, talking matters over, reading out of texts or use audio recordings on any e-courses. If you are an auditory learner, you don’t need to see texts or images to learn information. But, if the learner is to study in a library, then the silent reading will make learning hard The Auditory StyleFor visual learning, the visual aspects can be multiple different aids, such as facial expressions or gesticulations of the teachers, pictures, texts with illustrations, DVDs with many more examples as visual learners think and learn by images. This means that the recollection is easier if the environment of the learning has changed, as similar pictures can be used to the ones used to learn information. But, visual learners have difficulties learning information from texts and speeches, which don’t include any visual aids. The Visual StyleAbove is the VAK model—visual-auditory-kinaesthetic which is similar to the Felder model. The VAK model is one of the more accepted learning styles model, where there is three possible categories of learners: Visual Learners, Auditory Learners and Kinesthetic Learners. These three learning styles can be found in the VARK model where the fourth learning style is reading/writing and the VARK model was developed be Fleming. This allows students and teachers to acknowledge that different students have different approaches to how information is processed, which is generally known as the preferred learning modes. The learning style has influence on the student’s behaviour and learning where the learning styles should be met when learning. The Felder model, which is above, is used in a range of situations, and it was developed by Felder and Silverman. The Felder model, which explains the Active, sensory, visual, sequential learning techniques as well as the opposite techniques of these four, which are reflective, intuitive, verbally and global, where they can be seen as the learning preference being on the left of the table.

Unit One - P1 Understand the Personal Attributes Valued by Employers
Employers look for and like when their new or current employees have certain skills. In some jobs, some skills are necessary when others are desired. There are three different sections of skills which are looked at whilst the employers are deciding if the person is qualified to do the job or if they aren’t capable. Each employer will have expectations of what skills the new employees should acquire and will employ according to the expectations. These skills are called personal attributes and are either a specific attribute, a general attribute or an attitude.
Specific Attributes
In some jobs, specific attributes are required to work in that field. They can be specific to the job so an employee can carry out the job or to the knowledge on the procedures which may be expected by the employer. Some jobs need their employees to have a degree in a certain field, like secondary school teachers need a degree in the subject they want to teach and they have to also have a teaching degree. Without the teaching degree, the person isn’t allowed to be a teacher. The teacher would need to know health and safety procedures to make sure that the students aren’t in any danger as well as security. Good work procedures are when health and safety as well as security is taken into account. If an employee is unwell, they should stay off of work until they recover as if an employee goes to work with a virus and the whole team is then ill, the office would be unproductive. The Health and Safety at Work act (1974) means all the employees are to responsibly take care of themselves and others who can be affected by their actions.
Each job needs employees with specific attributes to the job and the procedures and the work place and the attributes can be shown by certificates of the skills or qualifications from an educational background. Also health and safety and security is important as it means the company will succeed as well as possible and the amount of people being injured or are ill is limited.
General Attributes
General attributes are skills that everyone is expected to have regardless of the job they have. These skills are able to help carry it out tasks for any job given to the person. General attributes include planning and organisational skills, time management, team working, numeracy skills, written and verbal communication skills and more. The more advanced in these areas, the better you’ll look to an employer. Planning means you have to think ahead about goals you want to achieve and the timescale you have to complete the task. A plan will allow someone to use their time efficiently and productively. Secondary school teachers for instant need to plan for several lessons on what to do in each lesson, then at the start of the year, for each class, a seating plan is made so the teacher can organise the students to work efficiently together or if it is a new year, it’s easy to learn the class’s names. The teachers would need to plan the time they have outside of school efficiently as well so they can mark the student’s books or homework’s quickly yet efficient at the same time, so planning is a key role for teachers to require.
Each employer looks for general attributes in the employees to see how well they can work without looking to the employer for help every time they want to complete a task. If someone was weak in planning and organisational skills, time management, team working, numeracy skills, written and verbal communication skills, they wouldn’t look very employable and less likely to be employed.
Attitudes
The attitudes people have employers prefer their employees to have. These attitudes include determined, independent, integrity, tolerance, dependable, problem solving, leadership, confidence, and self-motivation. They are valued by an employer as they show that the employee doesn’t need constant help on the tasks that they are given and sometimes, the employer might not be skilled in the way the employee is and so might not be able to help the employee. Like a headmaster will not be qualified in every subject the school offers, so may be limited to what the he can help with and the head master would want the teachers to be as independent as possible, solving any problems he or she may have before seeking help. That way, the headmaster will be interrupted less and accomplish more work that they need to do. If the staff really need help, in some schools there is a head of department to go to instead of the headmaster which should be able to help more. These head of department would need to have a leader attitude to get the department achieving as well as possible and to make sure that they are in check.
Employers like their employees to have certain attitudes which aren’t necessary, but makes someone look better than someone without these attitudes. It shows the employer that the employee is committed to what they do and are right to do it.
